Yan as a non-medicinal or complementary medicinal approach to wellness--as a means to optimizing, targeting, and implementing healthy eating, exercising, and supplementation for optimal brain and body health. Yan will explain how ITS is offering and using genetic testing to target ("test not guess") the genetic markers for inflammation, obesity, mental health disturbances (depression, anxiety and addictions, etc.), and hormonal imbalance. Gene SNP, our DNA Analysis tool, answers questions about how your body metabolizes nutrients, maintains cardiovascular health, propensity towards obesity, best fitness protocols, who should or should not eat meat; hormonal balance, and mental/emotional genetic attitudes and common genetic reactions to psychotropic medications (including genetic markers for weight gain from these medications); and how your body cope with the stress of physical fitness and emotional environmental factors.

Starting therapy is a radical act of self-love. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, or have a history of trauma, these feelings no longer need to define you. My goal is to create a space for you that is nurturing and safe, where you can express yourself freely without judgment. My approach to wellness is holistic and solutions focused. I'm excited to help you on your journey of personal growth, and to watch you live life to its fullest potential.

"Discipline is the basic set of tools we require to solve life's problems. Without discipline we can solve nothing; with only some discipline, we can solve only some problems; with total discipline, we can solve all problems" (M. Scott)
As a therapist, I believe client engagement in Psychotherapy is one of the most significant aspects of the therapeutic process. It reflects the level of healthy attachment a client has with the therapist and directly impacts/influences the prognosis.
I started my social work career working in foster care, placing children in the homes of relatives as part of the
Kinship Program. Later, I performed investigations of child abuse/neglect for the Department of Human Services and also spent time in their sex abuse unit.
After years in child welfare I decided to enter the field of mental health as a Behavior Specialist/Mobile Therapist, working with children with the diagnosis of ADD and ADHD, as well as conduct disorders in the home/community setting. I later supervised the STS program which was developed to support students with emotional and behavior issues that created barriers to their school success.
I also have a passion for teaching and facilitating workshops. I taught Institutional Racism at Temple University and have performed several workshops in anger management and conflict resolution, with the most recent being “Healthy Relationships for the Alternatives to Violence Project” (since 2005).

“Not Everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” (James Baldwin)
I am a part of a community that stigmatizes mental health services out of the fear of being viewed as insignificant not only due to race, but now a fear of being labeled as “crazy”. Society teaches us that as a person of color, being different is not okay and that we should adapt to western european ways of living while leaving our own culture and heritage in the wasteland, only to be copied and rebranded in the future. As a black man, I was taught to show no emotion and instead to bottle it up and cast it aside so that in the future it may manifest as anger granting me the label of “violent”. None of this came to be true and instead, I used the resources society had set before me. Now, I seek to bring this gift of mental health services to my own community allowing them to realize their own problems and find ways of coping instead of disregarding them.

"Be not conformed to the cares and circumstances of this world but be transformed by the daily renewing of your minds" (KJV Bible).
A personal believer that we are often enemies to ourselves, and inadvertently through our relationship to others; by being victims to our distorted perceptions. The instruction to renew our minds daily, implies there would be the necessary requirement of rebooting our mental dynamics constantly. In spite of our astonishing pedigree attributed to our high competencies and capabilities, which enhances our amazingly executive functions. We are all instructed to renew our thought processing on a frequent basis. This is instructed not merely as a suggestion of compliance but means to healthy functioning, even survival.
